Sales and Administrative Assistant
Based in Mobile, AL
The position available is flexible, based on the qualifications and background
of the candidate, but is initially designated as a training position, which would
preferably be full-time, 40 hours per week. Training will be geared towards learning
all aspects of the retail travel business, preferably with an emphasis on leisure
travel sales. Advancement opportunities will depend on the candidate's ability
to quickly and efficiently learn and adapt in the work environment. The person
selected will be directly responsible for assisting and supporting one of the
company's top sales producers. Duties could include both clerical and sales-related
tasks, including, but not limited to, those outlined below.
Primary Responsibilities
Sales Support
- Answer phone calls in a warm and friendly manner.
- Provide sales assistance to the individual agent. This may include assistance
with copying, faxing, mailing, invoicing, and following up on unpaid commissions,
as well as dealing directly with clients or suppliers.
- Develop email promotion capabilities. This would include compiling, organizing,
and maintaining an email list of the agent's clients and prospects, monitoring
and recommending email promotions, and conducting the email promotion campaigns,
and coordinating the same with Haisely Smith in the Marketing Department in Birmingham.
- Other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by the agent or the manager
General Office Management
- Help to maintain organization of the office, including filing vendor brochures
and reordering as necessary, and keeping various travel magazines and Virtuoso
promotional mailings, etc. organized and accessible.
Candidate Background
The preferred candidate should have:
- A background in a travel-related field and/or an interest in a career and
advancement in the travel industry
- Possible future positions at Brownell/Abeta Travel could include Travel Agent
or Operations Manager.
- A minimum of 2 years of sales or customer-relations experience.
- Effective communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, be self sufficient, and
the ability to work well with indirect supervision.
- An ability to demonstrate adaptability and inspire trust
- A proven ability to manage conflict and resolve problems, and provide follow-up
and follow through when problems arise.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word,
Office, and Outlook.
- A Bachelor's degree.
